About This Cruise

The Movenpick MS Hamees Nile Cruise is a luxury way to see Luxor and Aswan in three or four nights, with every visit made privately with your own Egyptologist guide. You choose the direction: four nights from Luxor to Aswan, starting every Monday, or three nights from Aswan to Luxor, starting every Friday. In Luxor the ship uses its own private dock in the Al Bughdadi area, about 15 km south of Luxor airport.

The four night cruise begins in Luxor with Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank, then the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank before the ship sails south. Edfu and Kom Ombo follow, and the last full day is spent in Aswan at the High Dam and Philae Temple. With a free afternoon of sailing built in, it suits travellers who want time to relax between visits.

The three night cruise is the shorter option. You embark in Aswan and see the High Dam, Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk on the first day. The ship sails early the next morning for Kom Ombo and Edfu, then continues via Esna to Luxor, and your third day covers both banks: the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple, then Karnak and Luxor Temple. It suits travellers with less time who still want the main sights of both cities.

On both trips, your private Egyptologist guide accompanies your group on every visit and answers your questions. That is the reason to choose the Hamees: private guiding ashore, and a Movenpick ship with suites, a sundeck pool and a full board restaurant to return to between visits.

The standard rooms are the Superior Cabins on the main deck. Each has air conditioning, twin beds or a king bed, a private bathroom with a bathtub, bathrobe and slippers, a hair dryer, a minibar, a safe, a 43 inch smart TV and free WiFi, plus an espresso machine and a tea and coffee tray refilled every day. Tell us when you book which bed arrangement you prefer.

The six suites are the step up. The Junior Suite on the main deck has 36.7 sqm, the Deluxe Suite on the upper deck 37.7 sqm and the Executive Suite on the top deck 43.4 sqm, the largest on board. Every suite adds a separate seating area, a second TV, two bathrooms, smart controls for the lights, air conditioning and curtains, a private MiFi device and a soft minibar. With only six on the ship, ask for a suite when you first enquire.

Meals are full board in the restaurant as an open buffet, with one set menu dinner and one barbecue on the sundeck during each cruise. Drinks are extra, at meals and at the bars. The sundeck has a swimming pool and its own bar, and inside there is a lounge bar, a mini gym, a reading and play room and a meeting room. The entertainment includes a welcome cocktail, an oriental show, a galabeya party and a daily DJ, so pack or buy a galabeya if you would like to join in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose the 3 night or the 4 night cruise?▾
Choose the 4 night cruise, every Monday from Luxor, if you want more time: it adds a free afternoon of sailing and the option of Abu Simbel from Aswan. The 3 night cruise, every Friday from Aswan, covers the main temples of both cities in less time, with an early sailing on day 2 and both banks of Luxor on day 3. Both include a private Egyptologist guide.
Is sightseeing included, and is the guide private?▾
Yes. The scheduled sightseeing visits are included, with entrance fees for the sites mentioned and transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle. On every visit you have your own private Egyptologist guide, just for your group. Optional tours, such as the Luxor hot-air balloon ride or the Abu Simbel trip on the 4 night cruise, are extra.
Do the cabins have a Nile view?▾
Yes. The Superior Cabins, the standard cabins on the main deck, have a panoramic window with a view of the Nile. They also have air conditioning, a twin or king bed, a bathtub, a 43 inch smart TV and an espresso machine, and the tea and coffee tray is refilled every day.
Can I visit Abu Simbel on this cruise?▾
Yes, on the 4 night cruise from Luxor. Abu Simbel is an optional extra on the Aswan day, at an additional cost, and we can add it when you book. It is not possible on the 3 night cruise from Aswan: the ship sails early on the second morning, so there is no time for the trip before departure.
Are drinks included with meals?▾
No. The cruise is full board, so breakfast, lunch and dinner are included as the itinerary shows, with an open buffet in the restaurant plus one set menu dinner and one barbecue on the sundeck during each cruise. Drinks are extra, both with meals and at the sundeck bar and the lounge bar.
Is the Hamees good for families with children?▾
Yes. The Hamees has a sundeck swimming pool and a reading and play room, and every visit is with a private Egyptologist guide for your group only. The Children's Policy section on this page explains when child rates apply and how many children can share a room, so tell us your children's ages when you enquire.
