Overview

Experience the total solar eclipse in Siwa Oasis on a seven-day journey combining Cairo’s ancient landmarks with the landscapes of Egypt’s Western Desert. Begin with an evening Nile dinner cruise, then explore the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Egyptian Museum before travelling west to Siwa.

Both journeys between Cairo and Siwa are by road in air-conditioned transport, with regular breaks and lunch stops. These are long travel days, balanced by three consecutive nights at your Siwa eco-lodge and a full day in the oasis before the eclipse.

Visit the Temple of the Oracle of Amun and Siwa’s salt lakes, rest at the lodge during the hottest part of the day, then head into the Great Sand Sea for a late-afternoon 4×4 safari. On 2 August, the main viewing period is reserved for the eclipse, followed by a relaxed afternoon.

Stay for three nights in five-star Cairo hotels and three nights in a four-star Siwa eco-lodge. Sightseeing is in a small group throughout, including Cairo. A final Cairo night separates your return road journey from departure the following day.

Your Eclipse Experience

Monday 2 August 2027 is set aside for the total solar eclipse in Siwa, with time to settle in and follow the changing light.

Watch the Eclipse in Siwa

Join organised viewing from a suitable area in Siwa Oasis. Arrive before the partial phases begin and keep the main viewing period free from sightseeing and travel between destinations.

Settle In for the Viewing

Your experience includes a briefing, eclipse glasses, drinking water, seating and shaded rest space. Follow the viewing guidance throughout the event and take breaks in the shade when you need them.

Lunch and a Relaxed Afternoon

Eclipse-day lunch is included. The meal and any local transfers are arranged around the viewing programme, so you can follow the eclipse without rushing away. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at your eco-lodge, with dinner included that evening.

Viewing facilities may be shared with other visitors. Weather and natural viewing conditions cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are both journeys between Cairo and Siwa by road?
Yes. You travel from Cairo to Siwa on 31 July and return on 3 August in air-conditioned transport. Both are long travel days, with regular comfort breaks and included lunch and rest stops. Journey times depend on the route, traffic and stops, so we do not promise a fixed number of hours. No domestic flights are included.
Why is there a final night in Cairo?
You return from Siwa on 3 August and stay overnight in Cairo before departure on 4 August. This separates the long road journey from your international flight and gives you time to rest. The final Cairo hotel night and the departure airport transfer are included.
When should I arrive for the Nile dinner cruise?
Your arrival on 29 July needs to allow enough time for airport formalities, the transfer to your hotel and the journey to the evening cruise. Share your flight details when booking so we can check that the timing works. Do not assume that a late-evening arrival will allow you to join the cruise.
Is this a private tour, and is the eclipse venue exclusive?
Sightseeing is in a small group throughout, including Cairo. The package does not include exclusive use of the dinner-cruise boat, hotels, lodge or eclipse venue. Viewing facilities may be shared with other visitors.
What accommodation is included? Will we be camping?
The six nights comprise three nights in five-star Cairo hotels and three nights in a four-star Siwa eco-lodge. The Cairo nights are 29 and 30 July and 3 August; the Siwa nights are 31 July, 1 August and 2 August. There is no overnight camping.
Which meals are included?
The package includes six breakfasts, five lunches and four dinners. Dinner is included on the Cairo cruise on 29 July and in Siwa on 31 July, 1 August and 2 August. What is included in the eclipse-viewing experience?
Organised viewing access in Siwa, eclipse glasses, a briefing, drinking water, seating, shaded rest space and eclipse-day lunch are included. The main viewing period is kept free from sightseeing and travel between destinations. Weather and natural viewing conditions cannot be guaranteed.
Will we see totality from Cairo or Siwa?
The eclipse-viewing experience takes place in Siwa on 2 August 2027. Cairo experiences a partial eclipse and is the sightseeing stop on this holiday. Exact eclipse timings and the duration of totality depend on the viewing location, so a single duration is not promised for every point in Siwa.
Is entry inside the Great Pyramid included?
Standard Giza Plateau admission, the Grand Egyptian Museum entrance ticket and admission to the listed Siwa sights are included. Admission inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu is separate and is not included in the starting price. It can be requested as an additional arrangement.
How is the Siwa sightseeing day paced in summer?
The Oracle Temple and salt-lake visits are planned early in the day, followed by lunch and a midday rest at the lodge. The 4×4 desert safari takes place in the late afternoon. There is walking at the sights and travel over uneven ground during the safari; tell us about any mobility concerns when discussing the trip.
