Marsa Alam is Egypt’s less-crowded Red Sea coast: quieter and more spread out than Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh, with reefs close enough to shore for regular dolphin sightings at Sataya and Abu Dabbab. It’s a longer flight or drive to reach, which keeps the coastline noticeably less developed.
This is a destination for slowing down rather than sightseeing: most stays are three days or more, built around snorkeling, diving, and beach time rather than a checklist of sites. Land excursions to Luxor are possible but long, around four hours each way, so they’re worth weighing against simply staying on the coast.
